Nightlife industry veteran Pedro Zamora is the creative force behind Cantina Rooftop, a new modern Mexican dining experience in the sky. “With the opening of Cantina Rooftop, Stage 48 and Level 3 Loft will fuse together all of the components of a perfect venue – a live performance space that rivals major concert halls, a high-octane nightclub and premiere dining destination open year-round.
Cantina Rooftop features a climate-controlled retractable glass rooftop with a spectacular skyline view. It is perfect for ALL weather conditions,” says Zamora.
Chef Saul Montiel recently joined the Cantina family and now heads the kitchens bringing an exciting new direction and flavors for the 2018-19 season.
Montiel has been featured on several television programs, including Telemundo's "Al Rojo Vivo" and Univision's "Despierta America." He has been featured on the front page of El Diario and has been recognized for his contributions to the Latino community in New York City.
Do I need a reservation for dinner?
While we always do our best to accommodate walk-in customers, we do tend to get busy, especially on the weekend. If you know the size of your party and when you'd like to come, it's always a good idea to make a reservation online via the website and OpenTable, or by calling us directly 212-957-1700 Monday-Saturday, Noon-6 PM.
Do I need a reservation if I'm just coming for drinks?
The bar area and rooftop lounge are always available on a first-come, first-served basis, so just come have a cocktail and enjoy the view! We do not take reservations for the lounge.
Does my large party HAVE to be on a prix-fixe menu?
Yes. It will make the ordering process quicker and smoother so that you will have more time enjoying the food, atmosphere, and friends rather than waiting for someone to make up their mind on what to order.
Is there a dress code?
Yes. Attire is business casual; dress casual. No torn jeans or athletic wear!
What if the weather is bad?
Cantina Rooftop Restaurant and Lounge is equipped with retractable glass walls and roof. In the event of rain or a scorching Summer, the wall/roof slides shut and the Cantina becomes a climate controlled greenhouse so our guests can be comfortable without sacrificing the view! During the Fall and Winter months, you will be dining downstairs in Cantina 48, our more intimate and cozy restaurant.
Are guests under 21 allowed?
Yes and no. Guests under 21 are more than welcome to join us for brunch or dinner in the dining room. The rooftop lounge side however is 21+.
Is Cantina Rooftop and Lounge on a roof?
Yes, Cantina Rooftop and Lounge is on the rooftop of the Stage 48 event complex.
Is there a DJ or music played on the roof?
Yes, and the volume can be quite loud. A DJ spins on weekends.
Does Cantina Rooftop become a nightclub after dinner?
Cantina Rooftop plays host to various nightlife events. If you want to make a later dinner reservation and then stay for the event, you are more than welcome but as we are not throwing the events ourselves, you may be subject to a cover charge for the event. For more information on nightlife events happening at Cantina Rooftop, visit www.stage48.com and click on the calendar!
