Pedro Zamora spent 30 years producing Latin concerts across the US. He wanted one room for Mexican food and Mexican music. In 2015 Cantina opened as Manhattan's first Mexican rooftop, and the first with a live DJ every single day.
Cantina Rooftop is a Mexican rooftop restaurant and bar at 605 W 48th Street in Hell's Kitchen, on Manhattan's West Side between 11th and 12th Avenue. Pedro Zamora opened it in 2015 as Manhattan's first Mexican rooftop, and there has been a live DJ every night since.
The roof is retractable glass: open to the sky in summer, closed and heated in winter, so the rooftop runs all year, Tuesday to Sunday. The kitchen is Mexican, from birria tacos with consomé to three kinds of guacamole and chilaquiles at brunch, and the bar is built around margaritas, from frozen to the skull mug you take home.
Every night has its own special, all by reservation: unlimited Taco Tuesday, karaoke Wednesday, the Taco Tower on Thursday, bottomless brunch on Saturday and Sunday, and Cantina After Dark (21+) on Friday and Saturday nights.
We're about a 5-minute walk from the Intrepid, about 15 minutes from the Javits Center, and about 20 minutes on foot (or a short cab) from Times Square and the Theater District. Birthdays and groups are what we do: tables for 2 to 8 book online, and groups of 9 or more plan it with our team.

What are your hours?
Tuesday to Thursday 5pm to 11pm, Friday 5pm to 3am, Saturday 12pm to 3am and Sunday 12pm to 9:30pm. Closed Mondays.

Yes, birthdays happen here every night. Tables for 2 to 8 book online; tell us whose birthday it is when you book. For 9 or more people, send a group request and we'll call you back to plan it.
Do I need a reservation?
We recommend one, especially Friday to Sunday, and every special is by reservation. For Cantina After Dark on Friday and Saturday after 11pm, walk-ins need a ticket.
Is there a time limit?
Yes. Tables are held for 90 minutes so everyone gets a turn on the roof.
