Margaritas and mezcal under rainbow umbrellas, the Midtown skyline all around and a live DJ every night we're open. Cantina Rooftop is a Mexican rooftop bar and restaurant at 605 W 48th St, open since 2015, with a retractable glass roof that opens in summer and closes in winter. Closed Mondays.

What the rooftop is like
Cantina Rooftop sits on top of the HK Hall building on W 48th St, out on the west side of Hell's Kitchen where the neighborhood meets the Hudson. Up top, rainbow umbrellas hang over the tables, the skyline fills the view, and a live DJ plays every night we're open.
The roof is retractable glass. In summer it opens to the sky; in winter it closes, so this is a rooftop bar you can use in January too. It's a lively room more than a quiet one: music, margaritas by the pitcher and tables of friends.
It's also a full Mexican kitchen, so you can eat properly: tacos three to an order, guacamole three ways and plates to share. See the menu →

What to drink up here
The bar runs on margaritas and mezcal, with cocktails by Daniel Barragan: $18 by the glass, $70 for a pitcher, and the Vozul Skull Margarita at $39, served in a skull mug you keep. There are spicy ones with habanero and jalapeño, a skinny one, a frozen one and mezcal-ritas.

A rooftop bar near Times Square, Hudson Yards and the Intrepid
We're in Midtown West, a short walk from a lot of the city: the Intrepid is about 5 minutes away, Terminal 5 about 10, the Javits Center about 15, and Times Square and Hudson Yards about 20 minutes on foot, or a short cab.

Where is Cantina Rooftop?
At 605 W 48th St, between 11th and 12th Avenues in Hell's Kitchen, Midtown West, on the roof of the HK Hall building. The C/E subway at 50th Street is about 12 minutes on foot.
Is it a rooftop bar or a restaurant?
Both: a Mexican restaurant and rooftop bar, open since 2015. There's a full bar with margaritas, mezcal cocktails and pitchers, a kitchen serving tacos and guacamole, and a live DJ every night we're open. See the menu.
Is the rooftop open in winter?
Yes. The retractable glass roof opens to the sky in summer and closes in winter, so the rooftop bar runs all year.
Is there a happy hour?
No, we don't have a happy hour. Margaritas are $18 by the glass and $70 a pitcher. Our margaritas and mezcal.
Do I need a reservation?
Walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend booking, especially on weekends. Tables for 2 to 8 book online. Book a table.
How far is it from Times Square?
About 20 minutes on foot, or a short cab, west along 48th Street. Most Broadway theaters are 12 to 21 minutes away. Time it for your show.
Is there music?
Yes, a live DJ every night we're open, and karaoke on Wednesdays from 7 to 10pm.
Which night should I come?
Tuesday is Taco Tuesday (unlimited tacos, $25 per person for 90 minutes), Wednesday is karaoke, Thursday brings the $90 Taco Tower, and Saturday and Sunday are for brunch from 12pm. Taco Tuesday.
When are you open?
Tuesday to Sunday; we're closed on Mondays. Our hours: Tuesday to Thursday 5pm to 11pm, Friday 5pm to 3am, Saturday 12pm to 3am and Sunday 12pm to 9:30pm. Closed Mondays.
