Why a skull
Decorated skulls, calaveras, are the best-known image of Mexico's Day of the Dead. Sugar versions go on family altars, often with a name across the forehead, made with a sugar paste the Spanish brought over.
They aren't meant to be scary. They're how the living remember people they've lost, and joke about it a little. A skull mug is a small piece of that imagery you can carry home, so bring a bag big enough for one.
Inside is Vozul tequila, fresh lime and simple syrup. The menu is clear about the rest: the skull mug is yours to keep.
