Occasions · Raining · The roof is closed · We're open
Let it rain on the roof. It's glass.
When it rains, the retractable glass roof closes and dinner carries on under it, with the same DJ and the Midtown skyline still in view. The only part of the night that gets wet is the trip here, so take a cab.
What changes when it rains
| The thing | In the rain |
|---|---|
| The roof | Closed. It opens on warm days and closes when it's cold or raining. |
| Your table | Still on the roof, under the glass. |
| The skyline | Still there, through wet glass. |
| The DJ | Every night we're open, rain or not. |
| The umbrellas | Ours hang over the tables and stay dry. Bring your own for the street. |
The one bad part is the walk
We're at 605 W 48th St, between 11th and 12th Avenues. The C/E at 50th St is about 12 minutes on foot, and Times Square is about 20. That's a long way in a downpour, and there's no shortcut.
Take a cab and give the driver the cross street. If you're coming from a show or a hotel in Midtown, it's a short ride.
If you've decided at 6 that you're done walking around in it, see what's on tonight, with the evening's forecast.

Rainy night questions
Is Cantina Rooftop open when it rains?
Yes. The retractable glass roof closes when it's raining, and dinner goes on under it.
What's a good thing to do in NYC on a rainy night?
Dinner with a DJ under a glass roof is our answer. You still get the rooftop and the skyline, and you stay dry.
Will my reservation be cancelled if it rains?
We don't close for rain, so your table stands. If you need to change it, call (212) 957-1700.
Is it warm enough inside?
When it's cold, the roof is closed and the room is heated.
